A radiograph is made whenever the interior of the tooth or the bone around the tooth should be assessed. For example, a hidden caries, an inflammation or a bone defect can be detected. Depending on the findings, an appropriate therapy is initiated.
Different technologies are available, depending on which regions of the jaw should be examined. For specific questions computer - assisted methods exist, which pictures teeth and bony structures in three dimensions.
