The rubber dam, or dental dam is a thin blanket, which is placed over the tooth during treatment. In this way the interior of the tooth is protected from bacteria from the oral cavity. It serves to protect the patient from unpleasant tasting rinses and prevents root canal instruments be swallowed. The dentist has a better overview.
